It was certainly one of the worst years for cinema. Of course, we had plenty of interesting premieres like The Matrix Resurrections, West Side Story or The House of Gucci… Big names, big expectations. But in the end, most of these movies were quite disappointing or ‘only’ good. Not amazing, not unforgettable, just ok. It was quite difficult to find ten positions from 2021 I would definitely recommend to watch, I had to dig a bit in my IMDB chronology. I also decided to create two separate categories: 2021 Top Ten and 2021 Top 5 Popcorn Movies, otherwise the main list would be overwhelmed by pure action movies.
Same for series, a horrible year: only thanks to Disney+ we avoided a complete disaster. Most of the positions are brand new because the long awaited comebacks (The Morning Show, The Witcher, La Casa de Papel) didn’t meet the expectations we had. So here we are, I give you a quick summary of what I really liked in 2021:
